Water, Mills and Marshes is an incredible project that will allow you to really get to know your Broads. 38 projects in fact as that’s how many make up this amazing scheme. There really is something for everyone! From January 2018 to December 2022 you can get stuck in exploring your incredible Broads’ landscape in many different ways with the help of over fifty partners.
Love the views but not sure how to explore them? Water, Mills & Marshes will help get you out and about exploring what’s on your doorstep as well as further afield – and we’ll even be helping make sure all the signposts are pointing in the right direction!
Love watching Broads wildlife but not sure what you can do to help it? Water, Mills and Marshes will help to restore some key nature sites but there’s also an opportunity for you to get training. You can learn how to survey and record wildlife and how to look after your own local wildlife patch.
Want to know more about the history of the Broads and how their wild landscape was heavily influenced by humans? You can help collect the histories of the people who live here, or listen to them if you’d prefer.
Are you a student in the construction industry? Water, Mills and Marshes will give you the rare chance to get hands-on experience of learning heritage construction skills and restoring some of the Broads’ iconic mills.
There’s heaps of new skills on offer including surveying watery wildlife; filming the history of the people of the Broads; interpreting aerial photos to spot hidden archaeology; and recording the heritage of our waterways. Then use these new skills to volunteer on into the future so that everyone can continue to celebrate what is special about our Broads.
