Between River and Reed
In 2021, we invited artists from Norfolk and Suffolk to submit proposals for the ‘Between River and Reed’ project, a year long collaborative and creative journey in which selected candidates were asked to draw inspiration for their final artistic pieces, from rural communities, their lives, homes and environments within the Broads area.
The five artists involved each selected a specific location in the Broads and researched how people’s lives and histories are interwoven with this environment and the changing environment of the Broads over time. The exhibition comprised a range of contemporary media including painting, sculpture, film, photography, printmaking and textiles.
The final showcase for the artist’s work ran for a week in June 2022 at Skippings Gallery in Great Yarmouth and later exhibited at The Assembly House in Norwich from August to October 2022.
