Wherry Lines Walks: Oulton Broad North

Getting Started

Begin this easy going 5 mile walk at Oulton Broad North Station, Lowestoft, NR32 3LJ. The station is served by the Wherry Line with services from Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft if arriving by train or there is limited parking if arriving by car.

The Route

Begin at the station and continue through Oulton along the Angles Way over farm tracks until you reach the Suffolk Wildlife Trust (SWT) nature reserve, Carlton Marshes. A wildlife haven and home to variety of birds, water voles and insects including 15 recorded species of dragonfly, it’s a nationally and internationally significant site for conservation. Leaving the Angles Way and head further around the reserve before returning back to the station. There are toilet and refreshment facilities at the new Carlton Marshes Visitor Centre.
