Wherry Lines Walks: Reedham

Walk length: 4 mile circular walk.

Getting Started

Embark on this 4 mile Norfolk Trails circular walk around this picturesque village from Reedham train station, NR13 3EZ, with services from Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. If travelling by car, there is parking available at Reedham Ferry Inn, NR13 3HA, if using the facilities there.

The Route

The walk takes you from Reedham Station along the banks of the River Yare and along sections of the long distance walking trail, Wherryman’s Way. You will pass Red Mill, a drainage wind pump built in 1540, which burnt down during a storm in 1890. Along the route, there are excellent views over the marshes, of the swing bridge, railway line and the River Yare. Another point of interest is Reedham Chain Ferry, which crosses the River Yare and is the last of its kind operating on the Broads. A short distance from the walk, is the Humpty Dumpty Brewery and Pettitt’s Animal Adventure Park.

On this walk, there are two sets of steps and two steep hills but the majority of the walk is flat. The walk also passes train crossings so take extra care and follow crossing instructions. Facilities are available at the local pubs, The Ship Inn, The Ferry Inn and The Lord Nelson but this is dependent on opening times. For more information on the Wherry Lines Walks the full walk booklet is available to download here.
